We debated about just skipping the trick-or-treating all together this year, both because of the chaos that is doing this in Elkins Lake, but also the whole "school night" thing. Then we heard that one of the local churches was doing a trunk-or-treat, which we've never tried. We LOVED it! They had games and all kinds of Bible story themed activities and trunks set up. Plus bounce houses and food! It was wonderful - I'm glad we went!
